ISO 9000 : 2000

Norm ISO 9000:2000 was issued in 2000 (adopted in the Czech Republic in 2001) and replaced the version dating back to 1994 the validity of which finally expired on 15 December 2003. What are the main differences?

An extension of the orientation to services - the original version of 1994 took into account the quality management in industrial enterprises, orientated to serial production. The new version brings an extension so it may also be enforced in the services sector. The quality does not merely focus now on the parameters of a product alone, but on the entire process of satisfying the needs and ideas of the customer.
Marketing-orientated. Who determines whether a product or service is of quality? Customers. The objective is not to achieve the topmost parameters of a product or service, but such parameters which the customer considers as complying with his needs and also meets his idea of quality. The firm will discover this information only through very good marketing management which becomes an integral part of quality management.
The reduction of the amount of written documentation and forms. Modern management relies constantly more on the knowledge and experience of its employees and creativity of its senior employees. The solution is less written documentation and guidelines, more training and team work. Computer technology will replace forms and memos.
Constant Improvements. Innovation and changes are the only way to maintain your customers. There is no need to come up with a revolutionary solution, customers will not always accept it, but introduce a constant minor improvement, removal of inconsistencies and search for improvements for customers. It will not only bring greater customer satisfaction, but also cost savings. Constant improvement is a process which must be incorporated into quality management.
Focus on the Whole. The management of a firm requires simple decision-making and communication routes. Quality management cannot focus merely on partial solutions of individual features, it must be part of the overall management of the firm. The new version of the norm allows mutual integration of the quality management system with other management systems.
As a certification company we greatly welcomed the amendment of the norm and we were one of the first to draw up methodology for the certification of a more modern management system. We have issued the most certificates in the Czech Republic of all certification companies according to the new version of norm ISO 9000:2000.
